Hi guys, just want to give everyone a friendly reminder about account security. Keeping your account and email passwords secure is the most important factor in not getting your account hijacked by anyone.

  • Never write your passwords down.
  • Use Passwords/Phrases that are easy for you to remember, but hard to guess.
  • Never tell anyone your passwords, even if you think you can trust them.
  • Use a combination of letters, numbers and characters like ! and ?.
  • Never follow links from people you don't know, or to sites you don't know are secure.
  • Never leave your accounts logged on after you've used a public computer.
  • Always check that you are on the correct URL when you enter your login details.

deviantART staff will never contact you asking for your password or any account information. The only time you will ever be asked for account information is if you contact us via help or our violations@ email address. Even then, we will never ask you for your password and you should not volunteer your password to us, we never need to know it. If you are contacted by someone claiming to be a staff member asking for your password or account information please mark the comment or note as spam and then contact us at help.

You can find a list of staff members at about, deviantART staff members also have a little deviantART symbol next to their name like dxd, fourteenthstar or moonbeam13. If this person is not listed on about and does not have a staff symbol, they are NOT a staff member, please contact help immediately if you see this.

If your account is hijacked by someone please contact us immediately at violations@deviantart.com. You do not need to have access to your account to contact us here and you will only be speaking to trained deviantART staff members.

Stay Devious!

I've just logged in and noticed that my deviantart group has been hijacked. Somebody who joined the group yesterday was able to add themselves as a co-founder somehow - despite the fact that I'm sure that I had the settings so that only I could approve co-founders. They've deleted all the folders in the group and posted a journal in the admins area. The journal shows some disgusting pictures and reads: SCRATCH A N*****S NUTS RAW. I'm not sure if they've hacked one of my accounts but I'm guessing that they have. So I'll shortly be changing my passwords for both of my accounts to something a lot more stronger. Is there a way I can get my group back to how it was, with all the relevant folders reinstated, without me having to create them all again? If not I'll just delete the group, as I can't be bothered to go through the process of creating them again.
