The devmeet was just BRILLIANT. There was such a sense of community, and everyone was so nice, and I found it so much easier to talk than I normally do, and I had so many hugs, and just ERGH.
I hope something like that happens again soon.
This website really is the greatest community on the internet.

DevMeet was AMAZING!Wow, where do I even start? Free emoticon stress balls, stickers, lanyards, sharpies, hugs, and cakes seems a good place, since the best things in life are free. Awesome people with Nyan cat T-shirts and dinosaur onesies and creeper/llama plushies... reminding us all that memes are not just for the internet. That awesome singer with the guitar which belonged to the awesome guitar player who let everyone sign it with our free sharpies. The rather diminutive but very enthusiastic literature group, which I proudly joined, as we all admitted that we never really write anything, and just sit around complaining about how our muses have escaped us and how we are waiting for tragic events to strike inspiration within our shattered hearts. My journey to dAI started writing the bio on my deviantid and then it got a bit out of control, so here it is. I kept the focus on everything dA-related and the journey that made me end up here.

As a child I kept coming back to programming as a hobby, even if it was really tough... until I really "got it" when I was about 14 and I learnt to write Pascal with no handbook, only badly written code samples. They were mostly coding exercises written by my bigger brother who was taking a Pascal class in high school. However my brother refused to teach me anything or explain anything, so I just learnt by reading working code and comparing it to what the executable did. Also, Pascal is obviously in English and I was a French kid, so it was quite easy to misunderstand a lot of the stuff.
